Magazine lip goodies

I don't usually buy magazines but last month I bought 3...  All because of the free make up goodies!

The last Glamour magazine came with a clinique make up: High Impact mascara, Dramatically different moisturizer, Chubby Stick in 2 shades - Woppin' Watermelon and Super Strawberry.

Obviously, I went for the chubby sticks! The magazine only costed £2 each, so it was a bargain considering the RRP for the full size is £17... which I would never pay for a lip balm!

I managed to get hold of both of them :D all thanks to Toto! They were either sold out from most newsagents/supermarkets or stolen from the plastic wrappings -_-

 Super Strawberry and Woppin' Watermelon

First up is Woppin' Watermelon

The colour is a very subtle pink... very sheer and creamy! At first I was quite disappointed as the colour did not show after initial application but I continued and after a few more layers, it started to pick up :)  It is a very nice nude colour for an every day look.

Super Strawberry

Similar to the last one, but a more richer berry colour.  I personally think it's more raspberry than strawberry hehe!  Colour suitable for day and night!

In conclusion, the chubby sticks are great lip balms, but if you are looking for something with more colour then this isn't for you.  The chubby sticks doesn't last long but they are indeed moisturising.  I would use these when I'm working in the office with the air con in full blast!  I probably wouldn't pay full price for them... at £17 I can get a really good lipstick! However, it's great that I can actually test the products out in a cheap alternative way :) Thanks Glamour!

NEXT is the New Cid i-Crayon - Strawberry Soufflé, from Cosmopolitan

This i-crayon tasted horrible... that was my first reaction! The packaging felt really cheap and the twisting cap at the top is very loose/broken =_= the texture was very thick but that was okay as I used my finger tips to rub it in.  It is also a cheek tint too... but considering the thick texture, I did not feel comfortable applying this on my face! The colour is pretty, I was happy with that part. The full size retails at £ 14... definitely would not buy.

Thanks for reading :) Let me know if you've tried the products and what you think!

  1. The Clinique Chubby Stick was so hard to find, I must of gone through 10 supermarkets and Magazine shops with no luck. The Strawberry looks very nice though :)

There's £5 off Branded Lipsticks today at Debenhams Online to celebrate National Lipstick Day ^_^ . You can read more on my blog post http://aliysaleeofficial.blogspot.co.uk/

Thank you for sharing the Clinique reviews, makes me want it more though T_T , but your right £17.50 better off getting a Lipstick.

  3. I absolutely love magazine freebies, I do a huge round-up review of them every month and this month's Clinique ones seemed to be the most popular one by far. Thanks for the pretty pictures, they really show off the colours!

  4. I wish more magazines gave freebies, especially ones that seem decently nice like these! I've heard a lot about the clinique chubby sticks and even though I do like clinique as a brand, I haven't tried them yet. I recently began reading your blog and I am a fan :) Keep up the great work!
